Mould For Making Magazine Pouch

Recommended Posts

I think I need some kind of jig to mould the cover of a pistol magazine pouch. I have in my head that it's "U" shaped and I can press a magazine or block into it to get the shape right.

wood or poly- cutting board of the appropriate thickness, cut to the shape of the magazine.

Tom:

Here's what I use to mold things like magazine pouches or pocket knife cases. I made it from scrap wood. Soak a 4"x5" piece of 6 or 8 oz. leather in water, then put it over the plug. Push the top of the mold down on it, and clamp it with several spring clamps. Let it dry overnight. Take it out of the mold, trim the edges to shape, and sew it to a back piece.

Hope this helps.

I would add that if you place a piece of saran or plastic wrap over the leather it will reduce the chances of any contact with stuff that would stain or discolor the wet leather.

Tomline I do them like Trooper ,I make the form of the Item and attach it to 1/2" plywood,I aiso make the Top piece to clamp the cased leather over the form! I put about three coats of Poly on both pieces ,sanding between coats that way they release easily and are not affected by the wet Leather. You may use them over and over!Hopr this helps....Thats why you end up with a basement full of wood working tools!LOL

Jordan:

The suggestion of plastic wrap over the leather to protect is a great idea. I'm gonna start doing that. Thanks for sharing it.
