Water Proofing Chrome Tanned Leather?

I am new and still learning. I did a search for this title and did not come up with anything. I am not sure if all water proofing applies eaqually or if different types of leather have different procedures.

I have a couple sides of chrome tanned cow hides. They are about 8 oz in thickness. I love the stuff. It is extremely tough and pliable for the thickness. I would like to make a bag out of it and need to have it water proofed as much as possible.

How do I do this?
