Too Much Oil, Can I Remove Some?

If it's soggy with oil you may not get it out. I have never had one to dry the oil out, I did this once some time ago, wound up throwing the piece away. The oil doesn't evaporate so it is in the leather and I don't know of any way to get it out. I always oil very lightly since that day.

Do a search. There are a couple threads here about the same problem. If I remember right, burying it in a bag of cornstarch removes oil. Takes a few days.

can you just wash it? With detergent and water? I know it may mess with the carving some but maybe not much if you're careful. Then if you can go over it again with an alcohol dye....that dries all my projects out so much I have to condition them. Sorry that's all I can think of to do. Cheryl

Bury it in potato starch and this will remove some oil.
