Leather Tools In Australia

Recommended Posts

I have a question for the Australian members. I had heard from a couple of you some of the prices for new quality leather tools in Australia. I got around to checking one mentioned and it was dead on with what I was told. Are there any other suppliers with published website prices other than Lefflers to check out?

As far as I know, Lefflers are the only ones with any reputable named tools like Dixon. Birdsall have some Tandy stuff which I don't even consider. I don't think the modern Dixon tools are anywhere near as good as the old ones were especially punches. If I was going to buy any Dixon tools it is much cheaper to buy from the UK and I told the traveller from Lefflers exactly that and showed him the receipts to prove it!. I like the "Rons" edge tools I bought from the US a few years ago, I reckon they are top stuff.

Tony.

Like Tony said Lefflers are the only ones that sell the high end tools which is why they probably have them so overpriced, all the other stores only sell the cheap Tandy stuff which would be classed as mid range here not beginner due to price they charge for them. Anyone here wanting better quality tools is buying from overseas. I buy mostly from the US, UK and Japan, they have a few different tools that the US & UK don't have.

Thanks Tony and Clair,

I had a guy who bought a plough gauge tell me he could buy three for what one new would cost him. When the second guy told me that I did get curious then. Lefflers were the only ones I could find online selling plough gauges.

Lefflers would skin a louse for it's hide and want top dollar for it!
