Singer 29K51

Recommended Posts

post-20801-087629900 1301537711_thumb.jpI'm new to this site and I was wondering? I have a Singer 29K51 made in 1928 and I was wondering how thick of leather it can sew and what price range would be able to sell it for? The machine is in great condition and still works.

Mine has less rust than yours and I bought it a few years ago for $35.00. So you may not be able to retire on what you get.

3/8 is absolute limit 1/4 is more realistic.

Catskin is right when he says 1/4" thats all Singer designed them for.

These 29K51's weren't made for thick material & be careful if you try sewing thick because this model of 29 has small gears in it that'l break real easy & there's no replacements for them(hasn't been for over 30yrs)

HTH,

Bob
