Yesterday I bought a Singer 16-188 and brought it home. My first attempts to sew with it didn't go well. It actually seemed to be in reverse and had large loops underneath that always resulted in breaking the thread after a few stitches. I took the race and shuttle body off and noticed the shuttle body was made in Japan and everything else appeared to be genuine Singer. So I changed the race and used the Singer shuttle body and away it went. Made a few test passes with 2 layers of 9/10 oz veg tanned and the belt was very dry and snapped. I ordered a new belt but so far it's working pretty well.post-63809-0-15000000-1436390281_thumb.jpost-63809-0-26269900-1436390290_thumb.jpost-63809-0-70715300-1436390353_thumb.jpost-63809-0-72228400-1436390298_thumb.jpost-63809-0-84408700-1436390293_thumb.j I do not know what the 2/3 wingnut goes to yet. I think I did OK for $50.

Congrats on your good deal. Google for a singer parts manual for that model and you will find out if that fits or not. Have fun with it.
