  1. Dude...that is some seriously cool stuff you got there. I only hope to be half as good someday.

The holster turned out better than I had hoped. Good retention on the weapon and still gives a lightning fast draw.

All finished after adding a little bling with the conchos.

This was also my first time boning. I found out its more of an art than a science. I need to practice a bit more, or use thinner leather.

Holster dyed and sewn. The small belt holds the holster to the belt.

Rivets seemed a stronger connection than sewing. Time will tell though.

Stamped, dyed, glued, edged, punched and drilled. Ready for sewing.

The belt components needed to be sewn double thickness to match the holster. I decided to dye the outside and leave the inside natural.

The holster leather (10-11) was given to me and was twice as thick as the belt leather (4.5-5).

Thanks to Tandy Leather for the supplies.
  12. Today I decided to join the forum, introduce myself and thank all of you who made my first leather project a sucess. Living in Arizona, I always loved those low slung buscadaro holsters my cowboy hero's used. Problem was, I was not a fan of the 19th century single-action pistols they carried. I'm much more of a semi-auto kind of guy. I tried to find a buscadero holster to fit my XD-9, but apparently none exist. I figured my only hope was to have one special made, but the cost was too high. My second thought was to make one, even though I had never made anything with leather since the wallet I made in cub scouts. During my research, I found this sight and spent many hours scouring all the information available, reading posts and going to suggested links. Thanks to Leatherworker and the community here, I have a holster I can be proud of and pass down to my grandchilden. So I can share what I did, I posted some pictures on your gallery named "My First Leather Project" Thanks again everyone!!! Regards, Boats36
