  2. Well for what it's worth... I hadn't played with it since my original post as I've been swamped by my day job/no days off in 2 months or so. And then last week turned it on to see what it would do and it seemed fine. Last time I turned it on it did the same thing for an hour and then flashed the error. So I left it on but not using it, just switched on to see if the error would return. Smoke alarm went off in the garage and walked in to find the controller box/switch module making loud popping noises and lots of smoke coming out of the unit. I'm guessing whatever was wrong was more than just a transient error.
  3. Thanks, I'll double check. But it seems to do it, even if I don't sew anything and just turn it on and let it sit.
  4. I've got a Consew 206-RB2 that I picked up cheap about 6 months ago. Came with the clutch motor so I swapped out in January with a servo, going with a Consew CSM-1000. I've only used it about 2 maybe 3 hours total since installing it and it's worked quite well for that brief usage. Went to use last night and the red numeric display just flashes all the segments rapidly. Turned off and unplugged for a couple hours and it ran for about 10 minutes and then they started flashing again. When it starts flashing the motor will not turn, so it's not just something to live with. Thoughts or ideas on a fix? Or is this a pack it up and send in for repair or just toss and replace? I have no idea what Consews warranty service is like.
  5. Anyone know where I might be able to get buckles similar to these? I'm usually pretty good with Google but haven't got anywhere. Thanks much!
  6. I actually just picked up a barely used Consew 206RB-2T. It's got a clutch motor and missing the bobbin and bobbin case but I'm into it for $200. Everything is in great shape and its appearance matches his statement that he used it once or twice and that was it. Even if I swap in a servo motor I'm still into this pretty cheap, so I can't complain much.
  7. Thanks guys, appreciate the help. Given the high price I'll probably just pass on this unless the gentleman selling it is open to significant negotiations. Not sure quite why but it seems like there isn't a lot of used/surplus machines in the Seattle area that fit the bill and what are out there are on the spendy side. Seems like every one I come across is between $900 and $1400. That just doesn't save enough money to be worth the headache. I'll probably wait until after Christmas and save a little more for a new machine.
  8. Have a machine I am going to look at tomorrow to use for some holster work. Found it on Craigslist. New table and servo motor and an older Singer industrial machine. According to the listing recently serviced and working well. But they don't know the model number or it's approximate age. Just said it is a Singer. They are asking $900 for it. Anyone know what model it is and some ballpark values? Thanks!! Here is some pics of it.
  9. So I've always had a passing interest in leather work. Over the last few year years buying higher end holsters I've increasing felt like trying this on my own. Recently lost one of my favorite holsters, a belt snap pancake made by US Gunleather, after reaching out to them about another and learning they no longer were in business I decided to give this a go myself. I bought a "kit" for a mag holder off of Etsy. Pretty basic, pattern and two rough shaped leather pieces. But it went well. Did a second one just to improve my skills. Turned out quite nice. Attempted a holster as my third piece. Functionally perfect. Cosmetically not so perfect. Not really flaws but I tried to bite off a bit much with Lizard on the reinforcement panel. I didn't get enough contrast between the holster body and lizard leading to it not being anything special aesthetically. But being a bit stubborn for just my fourth piece, attempted a belt snap pancake to replace my missing holster. I applied some lessons learned from the first three items. I had picked up a bag of scrap exotic pieces from Springfield. I'm not sure exactly what this exotic was on the reinforcement piece, I had someone tell me elephant trunk, cape buffalo and shark. Doesn't really look like any of those three exactly but regardless it turned out pretty well. There are a few marks on it, a few stitches not quite right. But in person it feels quite well done and fits my 1911 quite nicely, solid retention but not so snug as to get stuck. I just wanted to say "Hi" and get some feedback. Thanks Chris
