Bought Some English Bridle Leather From Springfield Leather, Omg!

Recommended Posts

Wow. This stuff is awesome! I have made several guitar straps already and this stuff cuts/edges/looks great. I dont think I will be able to go back to plain old vegetable tanned leather again except for tooling/stamping (which I don't do often). The EBL I purchased was in the tan color and is 10/12oz. .....................Rory

WScott.

Thanks for checking out my other post! I have yet to try the HO leather and need to. I have purchased some of the Horse Butts from Springfield, but haven't done much with it yet..................Rory

Hey Rory,

I found the horse is way different than cow.

Horse soaks in water much less readily when you case it, is a bit harder to stamp, tool and cut and takes stain differently than veg tan cow. Even smells different than cow.

The horse leather just feels more dense and tighter grained so you have to test it out before diving into a project.

But it has a wonderful grain, feel and look....and these were just scraps!

I highly recommend trying Springfield's horse scraps

Cheers, Scott
