  1. I like Mr. Cheaney a lot myself. It's almost like listening to an older cowpoke version of Bob Ross (That PBS painting guy).
  2. Ok, so I made a belt for my son that turned out pretty good, a few mistakes were made here and there and I plan on making belts for the entire family. I am want to make more complicated belts and when I get to my Wife's and mine, I want them to be really nice. She wants a pretty plain belt, but I want to at least line it for her. I want a belt that is inlaid/overlaid (not sure which is the correct definition, lined and tooled, a real BBQ piece. I am not sure how to do any of this, but wanted to start getting the ideas and have a reference a good while before beginning.
  3. Bulldoggers avg height is 6 foot. I Bulldog and I am 5' 10". I can take some measurements off of my saddle (the fenders are actually a tad long for me). PM your phone number and I can call you tonight with measurement.
  4. Screed, I see you are in Australia, but it you don't mind the price and a little wait you can go with a number of quality saddle tree makers. These tree makers are some good ones. Larry Coats (I would say one of THE BEST; hard to get) Billy Hogg (Probably one of the more expensive, but worth it and will do customs) Steele (A few production saddles use them and they have a pretty neat fitting system) I hope this helped! I am wanting to build a saddle in a year or two after I get much more comfortable working the leather and I will 99% sure use a Coats or Hogg.
  5. Please allow me to thank you all for allowing me into the forums! I have always been fascinated with the craftsmanship I have seen created and can always appreciate the time and attention to detail found in custom, handmade leather. As with everything with my horses, I appreciate quality and custom fit, however, my bank account and wife don't! So the logical next step is to start making my own tack. I look forward to your advice and experience and offer a hearty Thank you in advance to all of the craftsmen here!
