  1. I use my Name for my Land Survey business. I am a sole proprietor. but I don't want to use my name for a leather business. In NH you can use a DBA (doing business as). I think I can still have checks made out to Mad River and deposit them that way. Will have to check it out. I think you can go to the State web site and do a business name check.
  2. I like Mad River also. I am going to check on the trade name thing. I am also a Licenced Land Surveyor to. So I am looking for a nanme for a company. I have been working kust ubder my name. I might use Mad River for that to
  3. ok I appreaciate the honesty. Last name is Zuzgo. not many of us around. I live in NH. Strafford County. There is another river not far up the roas called Mad River. NH is called the Granite State. all right don't laugh the state bird is the purple finch.
  4. ok i want to do leather work. I would like to make a saddle or 2. repair saddles. Make tack. I am also going to make pool cue cases as i play pool. I have had some requests. How does this name sound. We have this brook going thru our property called "Pokamoonshine Brook" So how about "pokamoonshine Leatherworks" I want a makers stamp wih a name on it. Be honest and give me some opinions
  5. where is the best place to get hardware for bridles and halters. looking for show stuff.
  6. thanks guys for the replies. I can always count on you good opinions. I will probably place an order for a round knife and more. thanks again
  7. i just got my weaver leather catalog. I see some of the same tools as in the tandy catalog but a bit cheaper. Are the round knives good in this catalog. remember i am new at this.
  8. I have all the inserts to. I have some doodle pages to. the january 1983 issue of make it with leather has a stiching horse pattern i am going to make this week. I am also building my bench to. can't remember what issue i got that one from.
  9. I have been going thru all my tools and leather stuff. I am digging out it all to get started again after several years. One thing that is cool is i have probably 76 old magezines from the 70's and 80's. make it with leather and the leather craftsman. I have been looking thru them. what a great source of information. I am wanting to make my own saddle. I now live on a horse farm and we have 3 of our own and 3 boarders. More boarders coming soon. I thought it would be cool to offer tack repair and cleaning. I am new at this. the mags have some good info. the tips and tricks are cool to. I guess I probably can't post any of them on here because of copyright laws. to bad.
  10. I started doing leathercraft in the early 90's in St. Pete Florida. There was a Tandy store right down the road from me. I did it for a few years and then just sopped for some reason. Now that I live on a horse farm I am getting into it again. I also play pool and have seen some nice cases people have and said to myself i can make those. Well i am going to make one for myself first and see if i can. I have also worked in a tannery in the late 70's. probably the worst job i have ever had. that was in Berwick Maine for Prime tannery. They sent me and a couple other guys to a plant in St Joseph MO to set up shaving machines one summer. There i got to see the hides come in right from the slaughter house. I was only use to blue sides. that was real disgusting. Anyway I do love this site and look forward to getting on every day. thanks to all of you guys and gals for your expertise. I have learned a lot form you.
  11. I live in New Hampshire and there was a bunch of shoe factories in the area. Does anyone live around here and know of a place that might have some of the old machinery for sale? there is a leather tannery to that went out of business. They were very big and worldwide. I use to work there. Ebay has tons of tools. good prices to i think
