Rudi Report post Posted June 23, 2015 I have been 'lurking' on this site for a while and have finally plucked up the courage to post this question.I bought a used saddle for my horse who has only just started being ridden western and I'm curious about what make etc it is.The makers brand (on the latigo carrier)seems to have worn off,in certain lights you can just make out what could be a head and a horn with marks below which were probably a name.It has 3004 stamped below the slot, the 4 brass rigging Dees have an S engraved on them,the sheepskin is faux but the original may have been replaced, possibly when the skirts were changed from square to round.The stirrup leathers are altered with Spurs Kaufman adjusters so presumably the saddle was made after the mid 90's.It is good quality leather though the conchas seem to be steel(the one on the horn is rusty and well knocked about)and the thread along the back of the cantle is aluminium.Thanks in advance,I will now see if I can attach a picture!
