  1. Thanks again for the infor. I have never tried the gut before but I could see where it might work well say, when doing a Mexican braid on the edge of a rawhide sheath!
  2. Thanks for the info. I want to try some real sinew, I have used the artifical sinew before but, I have been told the difference in looks between the real and artifical is obvious to see! Another question have you ever used any of this to sew with or can it be used for that. It is advertised as hafting, from Moscow Hide and Fur. Lot # 7945-0001Natural gut hafting material washed/dried natural gut for hafting and sewing 20 linear feet per roll #1 quality $9.95 /ea Quantity Available: 39 ea Fill in Quantity above and press button to order
  3. I am new here so if this is not the right place, please feel free to move it. The title says it best, Where is the best place to purchase natural sinew. I have had several sources tell me that natural sinew and artifical don't look alike at all. However I am not sure where to purchase the natural sinew! With natural sinew do you have a color selection or is that something that just gets colored with the dye or coloration you use on the piece??? Any advice on using natural sinew???? Thanks in advance for any guidance on this natural sinew inquiry!
  4. Just stumbled on to this site today. It was refrenced in a post on a knife forum I am member of. Most of my experience with leather has been in making leather and rawhide sheaths, and a couple of black powder possibles bags. So real new and still learning all of this! Here is a few pics of my leather works since I got into knifemaking! This is one of my first ever sheaths. Not much to look at. Here are a couple of experiments in carving on leather, they leave some to be desired! Here is a rawhide sheath I have done, its meant to be over the shoulder/neck sheath. Here is a couple of bags I have made. The first is fire starter kit, out of suede material. This is a possibles bag for a black powder hunter. So as you can see I have got a lot to learn yet and I am hoping I can pick up some guidance on this forum. So I can continue to expand my abilities and solve some problems that I have encountered along the way! I have learned over the years sometimes their is a much better way to accomplish what you have been struggling to do! I hope it was OK to post these pics in my introduction. After looking at the site a little more if its not considered OK please feel free to move/remove them moderator!
