Leather Craftsman in the Chicago area?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

First post. I've spent some time admiring the great work that users are posting here, and I'm looking for someone who is in the Chicago area who would be able to fabricate custom leather dog collars by my designs. I'm collecting information and contacts to start my own business, and I'm very excited about the whole process.

I'd love to be a craftsman myself, and more than a few searches have turned up nothing in terms of classes or internships here in Chicago or anywhere close.

Can you guys help?

Thank you!

Paul

There is a Tandy store out in Elgin I would think that would have some classes out there and maybe even know of someone to help you with the rest of it.

Paul,

To learn, join one of the guilds in the area. I'm currently president of the Calumet Area Leathercrafters. We meet in Highland, IN... in "da reeegin" (gary, hammond, merrilville, etc). We would love to have you at a meeting! PM me if you would like directions.

Prarie States Leather Guild meets a bit further to the west in Downers Grove, IL (link to Prarie States). They're nice folks too.

Brent

Paul,

I would love to discuss the possibilities of matching my leather craftsmanship with your brand and vision. I've spent the last seven years hand crafting everything from leather belts to backpacks and handbags. Without even a sewing machine I cut, hand punched and stitched each and every piece and panel. I'm confident that I can assist you in bringing your visions to life and very possibly lend you a creative eye to help produce more of them.

Please feel free to contact me at:

Respectfully yours,

Yohance Lacour
