Lace making devices - Yes, No, Maybe?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with either on of these lace making devices?

There is one that appears regularly on ebay: 230331439514 as of 3-18-09 or try:

"Leather Braiders Lace Maker Beveler and Splitter Tool"

Then there is the "Lace Master" at www.lacemaster.com

Considering how expensive leather lace has become especially kangaroo,

I have been looking at these devices as possible options for making lace as opposed to buying spooled lace from Tandy or other sources.

If anyone has used these devices, I would be very interested in your opinion and input.

Or am I better off continuing to by pre-fabricated lace?

Thanks,

You should check over in the Braiding section... we have several threads there discussing pros and cons of various makes and models.

Most people who braid cut their own lace. Not everyone of course - some prefer to buy it, but a lot of braiders want to have control over the lace they use. For me, I sometimes need good long lengths and a lot of times the stuff from Tandy and so on has splices in it, making unusable for me. But of course it's all dependent on what a person wants to do, what they make, how much space they have etc.

I've got a couple of lace-cutting devices and would love to own one of these expensive jobs, I think they look really handy and nice.
