2 Issues - Thread Tension And Edge Guide For Pfaff 1245

Recommended Posts

Brand new to this forum. Was motivated to join from reading posts and the sharing of information. Am a newbe to leather, but technically proficient in plastic, wood and am a trained jeweler...really like to make well crafted, beautiful things. Got a new Pfaff 1245 walking foot and I call it my wild horse. It is training me to be humble. Both top and bobbin thread tension is driving me crazy. Have read as much as I can find on internet, know even the winding of the bobbin plays a part, but am getting puckering on the leather pieces I am sewing together. Trying to find that sweet spot with even thread on both sides is not something I have achieved yet. The puckering confirms that. I have also tried lengthening my stitch too. Any tips would be greatly appreciated or references to literature/you tube/anything basically.

Purchased a Kowk Hing Edge guide when I bought the machine and they installed it, but I dont think it is the right one for my 1245. Can not get it in position. I was such a beginner that I didnt even realize that it may not be the right one. The distanse between the table surface and the mounting holes does not have enough clearance to function. I'll try to attach photos so maybe someone can confirm this is not the right one and tell me which one it should be. I dont have the paperwork and there is no ID number stamped on part.

Is there anyone in Los Angeles area that someone would recommend for direct support/service?

Thank you all for helping me in my initial steps. Look forward to hearing from you.

NewLeatherGirl.

I think all you need to do is loosen the screw in the front and move the guide ( looks like you may have to take the guide part out to move it where it needs to be ) till it sets flat on the machine.

Tried that. The second picture shows that the guide is off. I think this specific one the arm is too long. There is a slide adjustment but it is retracted as much as it can be and still does not let me get it into position.
