Punching Lacing Holes In Zippered Kits

I am having a problem with punching the holes in kits with zippers because they don't leave much room between the edge and the zipper. Can anyone give me some tips?

Tough to say without knowing what you're trying to do. Too close that a lacing "nipper" won't do it?
