Kanga's Harness question sent me on a search. I found it a handy little resource years ago and I'm happy to have found this link. An interesting little read is the section that has some quaint old fashioned recipes used by harness makers years ago. If I could go back in time for 5 min, I'd buy that Pearson # 6 for 30 pounds. After reading this post and going to the Harness Maker's site I realised I have this book and had it for years and years so I went looking and eventually found it ( haven't opened it for 30 years I reckon )and the one I have is 4th. edition, printed in 1921. greg gomersall Report post Posted August 13, 2008 I have an old harness maker's guide that was published on this side of the pond back in the 1890's, it is quite an interesting read as well. It also has an ad in it for the Pearson but no price. The ad features the New Improved Stand to take the harness maker into the 20th. century. The sizes could be checked on a modern day horse and adapted accordingly. Barra. Hi Barra I actually used the measurements for years as a basic reference to be tuned up as required. There was not a lot of alteration needed as long as the Harness was for normal Horses. My copy was "borrowed" while I was sick. The pearson 6 was nine pounds Ten at that time and I actually brougnt one in the late 70's that had the original reciept for Nine Pounds Ten. (complete with all accessories).
