I just got some beautyful W&C bridle and i wanna dye the edges, but having a look at Fiebings site show many types

of dyes, Edge kote, oil dye - acrylic dye and so on, so im wondering which type of dyes is "best" for bridle leather?

I use bridle leather a lot and the best edge dye I have found is a powder dye that you make up with water. You can choose the consistency you want and add other substances to it if needed. I did try various types of Fiebings dyes but kept coming back to the powder stuff.

Another vote for the powder, I get it from Abbey England.

thats interesting - im wondering what are the benefits of using powder instead of something allready mixed. I mean, a fiebings dye can be

thinned as well to the desired level.

i just had a look at abbeys, but i couldnt find it, could you provide me with a link?

Hi

here is the link http://www.abbeyengland.com/Store/tabid/77/CategoryID/202/Category2ID/56/Level/2/ProductID/68775/Default.aspx.

you only need a small amount and put it on with a wool dauber, then saddlesoap and rub well, I use old pieces of jeans. Word of warning, do not drop any of the powder !!!

Do you know if this is the same kind of power dye that J. Hewit sells? They sell it in a much smaller quantity that is why I ask. Here is the link: http://www.hewitonline.com/Aniline_Leather_Dye_p/ms-070-000.htm

Do you mix it like Abbey England recommends (with glue)?

Thanks! -Adam
