Adler Skipped Stitches And Uneven Tension

Recommended Posts

I am sewing with an adler 205, it has been working great but lately I have had uneven tension with the top stitch occasionally showing on the back side, also skipped stitches. I am using a NM:230 size 26 needle with 277 thread...I just changed from a size 25 needle is this my problem?

The needle may be the problem. I have a Juki and it does that too on occasion. I usually find some problem with the threading of the top thread or the bobbin not feeding right. BTW, do you use a smaller thread on the bobbin...I think we're supposed to but I've used 346 on both for a long time...I dunno if that makes a difference but I can see how it could.

I tried the smaller thread on the bottom...still skips, I do think its the needle also, Im ordering a smaller needle to see if that helps. The needle as I watch it move in the bobbin case seems to now hit something just as it is coming up below the plate???

Hmmm....my machine skips sometimes too....mostly when I try to sew really thick stuff. I've not ever looked into the bobbin case when that's happening... lemme know what you find and when you discover the problem...

I sewed on Adler 301 and 307. I think The skipping of stitches is because of to heavy leather. Try skiving the edges down a little but or turn the wheel by hand slowly.

Does this machine have a needle guard adjustment? Double checked the bobbin lifter gap?

Ooops... old thread. What fixed it?
