  1. I wish it were that simple but there is only a plate where the wheel will go. There is no mounting shaft or gears so I need to get the parts for the relocation. Here a picture of the machine and you can see what I am talking about .
  2. I am thinking about moving the hand wheel from the end of the machine to the side so I don't have to reach too far. I'm curious as to what is involved and will I have to adjust the timing after doing this. I have no problems doing this and I have the tools but just wondering what is involved. Thanks Tucker
  3. Tom, There is nothing that I can say that hasn't already been said. That piece is freaking awesome !!!! My 18 yr old son is learning to play bass and is into dragons and such so he asked if I could do something like that. I told him no...but WE could. He was excited and so am I. I just hope that we can make one half as good as yours. Once again it is awesome!!! Tucker
  4. Do the singer brand 29-3 and 29-4 needles have a different ID numbers under other needle brands? Just wondering. Tucker
  5. Thanks a bunch Terry !!!! I was able to figure it out. It seems that I had the needle was 180 degrees off (bad lighting & eyes LOL). Right now I'm in the process of adjusting the tension so these manuals will come in handy. Thanks again. Tucker
  6. Okay... I've got the machine and I've downloaded manuals that I thought would help but it was parts manuals. The only "User Manual" that I found was for the 29-4. Will this be useful for me? Regardless I am in need of "Machine Threading Knowledge". I've read other post including the one about threading the Adler but I'm not having any success. I do have the correct needles and thread.
  7. No Ray, not foolish at all. I do not do shoes or boots it just happened to be next to the machine when I pulled it out of storage. You are right about the use of it. I said the owner told me that he cut belts with it. His exact words were "utility belts and that it was an over kill to use it but the arthritis in his hands was starting to get worse". I'll clean it up and keep it just in case. Tucker

    Landis 12K

I'm posting for a friend's father. It is a Landis 12K and is in decent condition from what I can see, keeping in mind that I'm no expert. It does need a good cleaning. he told me that it was working great when he put it in storage. He also has other equipment for shoe repair that he would like to sale. It is located in Breaux Bridge La. If interested email me @ tgidry@cox.net and I'll get you in touch with him, thanks. Tucker
  9. Rayno, thanks for the info on the cutter. Would you or anyone else know a value on the cutter. It seems to be in decent working condition and just needs to be cleaned up. The owner is a friend of the family and I really want to give him a fair price for it. He owned the shoe repair shop and retired about 26 years ago. He has other equipment that he would like to sell. One in particular is a Landis model 12K that I'll be post in the FOR SELL forum later. Again thanks for the help. Tucker
  10. I finally located a boot patcher and it was only 12 miles down the road. Its a Singer 29k72 and it has been in storage for about 26 years so I'll give it a going over before I start to use it. I will need some advice and possibly some parts. Its in decent shape and the previous owner said that it worked the day that he put in storage and it will definitely need to be oiled. Also got a strap cutter (I guess that is what its called) he said that he used this to cut belt blanks with. Parts suppliers for the 29k would be useful. Here is a couple pictures.
  11. I found out today that the owner of the shoe repair shop in town still has his equipment. He has an old singer boot patcher that I'm going to check out ... actually buy. The shop has been closed down about 26 years and he told me some of his machines were actually bought by his father. I'm excited just to go and look at them. I guess what I'm saying is that I like the old machines... cars, trucks, harleys, indians, tractors and so on.
  12. I have located a machine in Mankato Mn. I would like to know if there is a shipping company the will not be too expensive to pick it up and deliver to me in south Louisiana. This is the 1st time doing this so if anyone knows a reliable / affordable company to use can you give me the contact info. Thanks Tucker
