Basic Tool-Usa

Anybody know anything about this brand of tool.......the name stamped in the groove on the side says "Basic Tool-USA"

Got them in a lot I bought a little while ago.

Got them in a lot I bought a little while ago.

Basic is a nice brand of tools, no longer made. They definitely fill a niche that Craftool doesn't fill. The images in the large sizes are quite nice; the smaller tools in the line are not as finely cast. IMO. They are not steel, but I don't know what (cast zinc?). I have some; I wish I would have gotten more in the '70s.

BTW, they put the Baron tools to shame- the inpressions (as you can see) are deeper & more crisp than the Barons. You need a heavy maul or a weighted mallet.

Those are some fine stamping tools i have about 35 and wished i had more.

when i bought mine they were $3.50 each................

Thanks for the info......the 70s I wouldn't mind going back. LoL.

I got a few rawhide mallets in the lot......I've never tried working with a maul. Need to get myself one,see how it feels.

The Maul will take a while getting use to it, But you'll never go back to a Mallet

afterwards
