Wanting To Get Into Firefighter Leather

Recommended Posts

I was wanting to get into making some firefighter truck belts and radio straps. They seem like they aren't really intricate or anything, but being new I'm not sure exactly what tools I need to get started.

I have no idea what fasteners to use as well. I'm thinking copper rivets, whatever it is I'd like them to be strong. Ill also need to use snaps I don't know what size is best. Can somebody help me out with what snaps and rivets I need to get?

For the belts I'm wanting to go with some thick leather, 2.5" wide. The radio straps don't need to be as thick. I think for now Im going to just buy the pre cut strips, I saw some from Tandy, is there any place that's cheaper?

I have some books coming from amazon but I figured I'd ask in the mean time. I included some pics to show you guys what Im talking about making.

Are line 24 snaps bigger than 20?

I saw a size 9 copper rivet. Are these the biggest?
