Hello everyone

I would like to know the best way to care for my leather after applying the Fiebings Spirit dye, as it seems to leave the leather feeling unpleasant and rough as well as causing it to become rather stiff. Iv also noticed that if I let a piece dry after dying then bend it the dye seems to crack :/

I have been considering applying some neatsfoot oil prior to applying the leather finish.

Thanks for your help

I deglaze first. Then dye.after it dries, over night dry, I buff the surfiace to remove excess pigment and then oil. Normally with EEOO or neets foot. I have even used Lexol. After it soaks in I buff again and apply the finish.

I am sure there are other ways to do it. Thats the way I was taught.

Good luck.

Michael
