  1. Rick, We all are students of this leather thing, First off dont get discouraged. I will offer my 2 cents worth on the areas of opportunity. First off hardly any of us get to do this as much as we like and we forget the proper procedure for each tool, so refresh yourself on the proper techniques (sp) I have a list of do's and dont's, thumbtacked to my wall at the bench. I always look at the correct way to bevel, pearshade, etc before i start. Another tip start a flower with a piece of scrap do the work on it first, each step in order, trace the scrap then the finished, cut the scrap then the finished etc.etc.etc This will allow mistakes on a scrap rather on the finished piece. In looks like the tooling might be too deep and uniform, walk your shader more, you dont have to use the entire pear shape roll it to one side and try to get that look of depth from the folds of the pedals. I like the scrap approach. If it turns out fantastic cut it out and use it for a coaster. All my family gets a set of coasters as stocking stuffers for Christmas. I just hope they arent members here and I just let the cat out of the bag:)
  2. Thanks so much for your help, I see have alot to cram in before he delivers the pan to me!!!!!
  3. Dave, I have several questions. I have never made a seat and have had a current holster customer ask if I could make one. He is asking for no art work just a leather (kinda distressed). I was wondering how you measure the layout. like length over the actual pan and how you lay out your holes (best size for a punch, and ditance apart. Is the top and bottom a mirror image or should I make one smaller that the other and are the holes a mirror image like lacing a wallet?? I look forward to any suggestions and tips about pitfalls. Keep up your great work!
  4. Looks great, very nice I do have a question though whats LSCJ????? Great work!
  5. THANKS Brad there is some really nice work on this board!! So i appreciate the compliment
  6. Thaks for the kind words freak, the design is kinda mine, it's actually a loose interpretation of the smith & wesson logo. Just redid a few things here and there to make sure it wasnt a out right copy. Thanks again for the reply I am going to post some of my other holsters.
  7. Well fellas, I look forward to your replies and suggestions. I just finished this two days ago. I did dye the circle of her initials brown after the pictures ( not the inside just the outer rim) Looks ok and fits the gun well. The tricky part was getting the snaps all hidden and then again not allowing anything but leather to touch the gun. Ok fire away
  8. ok guys forgive my ignorance, but I have seen several seats posted on here and dont see how any of them look like motorcycle seats. I have owned bikes and not one of them have had a seat like anything I have seen here. I think the designs look great it is the thiness of the seat that is confusing me. I would appreciate a explanation or maybe a pic with the seat on a bike. I am failing to see how the seats would be very comfortable. Thanks for your replies in advance. Chad
