  1. It would be in small batches, maybe 3-6 bags at a time. If you are interested, perhaps I could send one to be assembled and we could decide whether it's a good fit for us both. Have you done something like this before? If so, what are your rates? If not, we could come to an agreement that works for us both! Thanks for responding, I appreciate your time. -Jen
  2. That is great advice, thank you! I have been a little worried about controlling the quality of work, I have been thinking about sending a trial piece to find out if the working relationship would work for both. Right! Good food for thought..... Oh goodness, I was so involved with my question, I didn't realize I'd made that mistake. Of course I'd by paying them to work!
  3. I'm looking to source out help with constructing some of my bags. Does anyone have advice on how I should charge? Should it be by piece or by the hour? Any suggestions on the going rate? You're help is much appreciated!
  4. I'm a small business owner looking for help with simple bag construction. I would do all the pattern cutting, dying and carving/stamping, and would source out the pieces to be assembled by you! It's pretty basic stuff, I just don't have the time to do it all. Would involve using the saddle stitch, or a machine if you have it, some lacing (cordovan, running stitch and whip). My business is located in Vallejo, Ca and it would be optimum to work with someone near, but I'm open to shipping. What is your price range? Do you charge hourly or by piece? Attached are some examples of items I'd need help with
  5. I'm so happy to have found this site! I have been learning to work with leather over the past year and I'm completely hooked. I have read everything I can get my hands on, watched videos, and taken the few classes Tandy has to offer. Now I'm at a point where I would like to study/apprentice with a more experienced worker, but I'm having trouble finding someone in my area. I do sell a few items on the side, but am hoping to expand to full time maker with time. Does anyone know of teachers in the bay area? Or someone who might be willing to take me on as a student? I'm also interested in knowing what the job opportunities might be in leatherwork. Any advice is much appreciated! Here is the link to my etsy store with examples of my work https://www.etsy.com/shop/TILTadornments?page=1#save Thanks, Jen
