I have been making holsters for awhile and I am not happy with the way my clips look once I sew them on. I'll post pictures later of a holster this is a sheath same thing though but I feel like the leather behind it looks bulky and just plain ugly lol. I would really like some tips or pointers on how some of you sew on your clips. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what weight leather are you using?...are you sewing it wet? do you glue before you sew it on? my last question is more of an observation, but may help out...your edging on the piece looks a little uneven, this, i think, gives it that bulky look...you might need to cut the through hole a little wider to get the leather to lay just a bit flatter as well.good luck and i hope you get it ironed out..

I was thinking the weight may be an issue I use 8-9 oz and I don't glue the leather around the clip should I? Also i may sew it alittle wet I'll try to let it dry better before I sew it thanks for the help!!!

i would glue it before i sewed it on..in fact, i dont think i have ever sewed something with out glueing it first...let it dry before you sew, and try to get a nice even edge on it before you glue it up...it should look like a finished piece before you glue...

Try using light weight leather. I use 4-5oz and bevel only the top edges, glue, and sew.
