  1. have noticed that i am going to need braze that as well as the other swimg arm by it. yes i did make the pressure foot, i wanted somthing a little wider and with and open front so i could see where the needle was going.
  2. I first need to get some good thread but i dont know what i should run through for knife sheaths. I was thinking like a number 5 size linen thread. i would like to use a liquid wax though.
  3. well after a ton of work and even more elbow grease my old champion stitcher is clean. man she look like a million bucks and to thing i onley payed $200. she has lost some paint but thats OK. I'm probably not going to repaint her because i think she looks great now that she is clean. man talk about a ton of parts, i had not worked on it for a week or so and then i was like man where did all these parts come from. but with out further adu i give you some before and after shots of my new old Champion Leather sewing machine. here is the before shots, this is what it looked like when i picked it up. the whole thing was covered with grease and wax that had dirt and crap mixed with it as well as some mud hornet nests. so it was a pain it the butt to clean. it was completely froze up when i got it and would not turn over at all. now here it is after tons of hours of taking things apart and cleaning them. looks good i think.
  4. have recently picked up an old champion leather sewing machine and after much cleaning its running like a champ. but my question is what thread should i run through it, I am really only sewing knife sheaths. I like a nice bold stitch and don't want a small thread size. but having never bought a machine thread i am not sure what i need. It is a wax machine but i really don't want to run wax through it as that is what most of the cleaning was about. getting all the 50-75 year old wax off was a pain in the butt. The machine has a #3 needle and awl in it right now. but the manual says that a #3 needle wants to use like a #7 or #8 Cord thread. I am not sure how big that is but is has to be very large. i have looked on www.campbell-bosworth.com and found lots of thread but there are lots of choices. i have been reading that my machine likes linen thread better then the synthetic threads. if thats true then there are 2 brands that thy sell of linen one being of the brand Barbours and the other is Hungarian. I'm guessing that the Barbours is the better thread as its twice as much. now since i don't want to use the wax melting pot on the machine i was told to use a liquid wax like what thy sell called Campbells Thread Lubricant. is this what i want. o and last question, I use a left twisted thread in a machine right? man sorry for all the question but i would hate to order the wrong stuff as its not cheap.
