Carpe Diem, bracer for a partygirl

Recommended Posts

This one's a special for a friend and I did mainly because I felt it was a good practice with the golden dye. It was a while since I played with that.

Also I got the chance to play with the new eco-flo saddletan antique :wtf: is that compared to the old. Brown cream VS rich oily black brown goo that is beautiful to use as a filler in textures and crevages. I had to use a sharpie to get a good black fill in the text on this one. THAT TAKES ALOT OF TIME AND A STEADY HAND...hm..gotta work out new techniques to get me back on track.

It was a pain to paint the gold into the carved swirling things (no good with words today) and I used the sharpie to make the edges around those more defined.

Some of the process and pics is available at my blog from the link below.

Criticism is welcome as allways!!!

Awww seriously Luke!!! I wish you were here with, sharing a beer and discuss leather and off course practice too..but..before beer;-)

Thank you very much!!!

Now, something came up. As usual I take my pics before final coat of sealer so now I have put a coat of that on AND it brings out lots of yellows from the saddletan...bawl. Hm, I've put it aside and gonna judge in better light and clearer head tomorrow if it is too yellow or ok.

Very Nice Tom!!

I'm a fan of your work, even if I don't know what "Carpe Diem" means.

By the way, under your picture it says;"leather specialty: not dyeing"

Well I think you can change that anytime now. You can definatly put the color to it.

Carpe Diem is Latin for "Seize the Day."

Thank you Casey!! I'm honoured and after todays fluke with the leather sheen I just fell like getting to know more about dyes and especially stains.

Hm, old saddletan felt like a two component stain, like black oil and brown stain but the new acoflo seems like just a brown cream. I'm not sure antique is the right name for it.

Well, just thinking out loud, lol.

Carpe Diem is Latin for "Seize the Day."

Thank you for the help Tashabear!!

Yep this girl wanted wanted this text but from what I've seen and know about her seize the night would be the better expression;-) Wild thing she is.

Nice to know those three years of high school Latin weren't wasted. :-D "Seize the night" is "Carpe Noctem," by the way.

Man, was I way off. Thanks!

What did you think it was?
