Hello To All At Leatherworker!

Recommended Posts

Hello to everyone at the Forum!

I am new, both the this forum, but also to the leather craft!

I hope to learn a lot from all of you (from what ive seen so far) VERY talented people!

I mostly work with thick leather, and make masks. Mainly i make patterns, then stitch them together. But i also work a little with wet leather (molding or what ever it is called).

I am greatly inspired by Steampunk. And of course the (in my opinion) VERY talented Tom Banwell.

I look forward to getting some constructive feedback. and to learn a lot of new techniques.

These are some pictures from my newer creations:

Papa-Razzi (Also know as "The Facebook Pose Mask" :D)

Those were Stanley Kubrick.

There was a young man in Twin Peaks that very much looks like the inspiration for the Dr.

Mr. Lynch, well, he's very original, very eccentric. Check him out on IMDB.

Yes of course. very embarresing .__.

I always mix those two up.

The Dr. mask is actually inspired by the Pest Doctor. from the Black Plaque :D

That puts it on another level, BRAVO, well done. I've always been a fan of the old woodcut art.

What are you using to retain the lenses?

Thank you a lot :)

Actually nothing. seeing as i am still very novice, i have not yet perfected the eye part of my masks.

All my mask eyes can be screwn apart (not sure if thats the correct term) and so i just make the hole very tight, and screw the eyes on from opposite sides of the mask.

This works, however you can kinda see the eye hole gaping just a tit on the pest mask, not ideal .__.

This is not the solution i want, but im afraid i have not yet developed a teqnique that is better .__.

I don't know if you are not wanting to share your secret (which I understand), or misunderstood my question because I asked poorly.

What are you using as supplies for the lens assemblies, and retainers/assemblies/housings of the lens'?

On the doctor, and the experiment they look pieces of old, or Warsaw Pact "gas masks". I'm really just curious, not as idea theft.

I can really understand where the properties of the leather would make fitting and retaining of the lens housing assemblies difficult, from an aesthetic.

The pest dr. Is from a gasmask. And The experiment is a lens from an old camera :D

What.....???

No Sheridian carving, traditional braiding and NO cowboy scenes...??????????

And what about little birds and landscapes....NOT!!!!!

What kind of leather work is that.....???????

Ahhhaaa, something totally different,,,,I see.....hhmmmm cool, somebody out of the box!!

Love it, always like to see people getting out of the "normal" comfort zone with leather and related hobbies...

So keep on doing what you do and show us some out of the box stuff!!

By the way your work looks like clean craftmanship...well done!!

Greetings from SW Virginia
