Jw Craftsman -Leather Tools

Recommended Posts

I wanted to start a thread with all my offerings in one place to make it easier to manage.

As seen in a previous post this is my strap pony.

Handmade using rough cut cherry lumber which I surface and mill myself. Sanded smooth to 400g and finished with a coat of tongue oil. Much like leather, cherry will darken and patina over time.

Not only does it work as a great stitching pony for belts and straps it also works great to hold your piece when burnishing the edges.

The pony measures

Base- 6" wide 16" long

Rails- 3" wide 24" long

The pony features four knobs for securing your work piece. Two lower knobs allow the rails to be tilted to give better access to your piece if needed. The rails are lined with cork to not markup your work piece.

Price is $70.00 shipped in the U.S. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery as each one is made at the time of the order. To place an order simply contact me here or at my email at jwcraftsman@gmail.com

This is a new item with more info to come soon but wanted to show off this one quick.

I use X-Acto knives daily in my shop from leather cutting to pattern cutting to weeding decals and stencils from my vinyl plotter to just everyday general use. The ability to use different blade shapes, quick blade changes just make them very versatile for me.

As like most of us, I like my tools and most other things to be nice and a little different then what everybody else has so I came up with this. It's an X-Acto knife with class and guaranteed to be like no other.

This is my personal one but I will be working on a few others today and will make this available in my tool lineup.

They will come with the square piece of wood. Since the cap no longer fits with the added thickness of the wood you simply place the knife in the hole, which has cork at the bottom to not damage the blade. When using the cutter you simply lay it in the groove so you don't have to worry about it rolling off your workbench and it's always at the ready.

Stay tuned for more info and pictures of these cutters.

Made another knife. This one is green and silver pearl with ambonya burl caps. Just like the rest this has an X-Acto knife as the "guts" I turn the handle on a lathe and and sanded to 3400 micro mesh then polished to a nice shine. One of a kind!

I had a request for a pony specifically made for wallets. This one is 12" long rails which are 6" high and as can be seen in the pictures the wallet can be positioned in a variety of ways.

Walnut tool rack

Tired of my tools being in drawers I wanted a way to keep them on my work table but I also wanted something nice to keep them in. I came up with this walnut tool rack.

Made from rough cut, air dried Pennsylvania walnut. I will all the lumber myself in my workshop.

The rack features 95 total holes, in 3 different sizes to handle a wide variety of storage options.

Rack measures 3.75" tall

7" wide 18" long. There is foam bottom on the inside to give a nice soft bed for your tools to rest on and reduce noise when tooling as well as felt feet on the bottom. I use Antique Oil as my finish to give the wood a nice soft finish.

The price of the rack will be $60.00 shipped within the U.S.

Newest addition to my lineup. Hand turned hardwood awls featuring Starrett 162b pin vise and copper ferrules.

First one is made from curly Anigre. This will not be a regular production wood choice. I have very limited quantity of this wood as most curly Anigre with this much figure is cut down and used for veneer. I was able to snag a couple pieces from my supplier.

This one is made from cherry burl and will be an permanent wood choice when ordering awls. Has great figured and will take on that great patina cherry wood is known for.

Like all my other pieces each one is sanded to 400g to give a super smooth feel and finished with antique oil for protection and to give the wood a nice hand rubbed look.

***Awls do not come with blades. With such a wide variety of blades available as well as sizes it also allows me to keep the cost of the awl down by allowing you to select which blade will work best for you

The awls are $75.00 shipped within the U.S.

These two are ready for immediate shipment.

All other orders please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery As these are made to order. Any questions please message me here or my email at jwcraftsman@gmail.com
