Can You Paint Leather?

Recommended Posts

I know that you can dye leather and all, but I was wondering if leather can be painted and it actually stay on? The leather would be dyed the main color but then parts of it would need to be a color.

I use acrylic paints from Wal-Mart or JoAnn Fabric. Just thin with water and have fun. Mix colors or whatever.

Are you suppose to dye the leather, and then paint the painted part? Or paint then dye??

I would dye the parts you want dyed first, then apply the paint over it. I think you'd have troubles getting the dye to penetrate through acrylic paint.
