I have been using eco flow with so-so results. I want to try Angelus dyes based on this forum saying how good it is.

I went to order some from turtlefeathers and saw that they strongly recommend a preparer deglazer.

What is this and is it really needed? Also do you guys who se Angelus dilute it with anything or do you use it right from the bottle.

Also are you all dipping or applying with wool daubers?

thanks

I use Angelus dyes and I don't use the deglazer. I dilute the colors with Fiebings Dye Reducer. I usually apply with dye brushes. I never dye with daubers. If you make holsters you might use dipping, but I don't make holsters, so I can't really comment much there.

Depends on the color I'm after. All it does is dilute the mix and reduce the intensity of the color. For instance if I want a light blue, I mix a heavy ratio of reducer with a little blue dye. I don't pre determine the ratios, i just mix until I have the color I want.

The Angelus dyes are very intense. A little of it goes a long way, so I rarely apply it full-strength.

I dilute mine with just straight denatured alcohol, which works the same as any of the "reducers", except it's a lot cheaper. You can get a gallon of the denatured alcohol for just a little more than you pay for a 4oz bottle of the reducer.
