Help Need Creative Ideas From Experienced Artists?

Ok so this is my first completed leather bag it was made as a donation for a fund raiser anyway

I wanted to give it more interest so I decided to add - carve a design or burn on the flap and then stain or dye just Kind of experiment with carving or burning leather.

I found out via experimenting the leather I am using is not right for carving ,burning, probably not painting?

Didn't try that. It is a mahogany colored stained utility leather

So - getting to the point I etched a design on the flap and outlined it with permanent marker

It's a cool look but not really bright enough or noticeable enough?

Any ideas on brightening, or just making it pop? Or stand out more?
