In The Market For A New Swivel Knife

Recommended Posts

I'm ready to upgrade from my cheapie swivel knife to a nicer one. I have checked out (online) Leather Wranglers and Barry King ones. Any other suggestions for swivel knives that I should consider?

I like the look of the SK3, but clueless on what size barrel/yoke I should get. I do notice that my hands cramp up a little if I hold my cheapie Tandy swivel knife for long periods of time. Would the larger barrel/yoke be more comfortable to hold? I'm a taller gal with long fingers, so my hands aren't teeny tiny.

Call Paul at Leather Wranglers. Discuss your needs with him. My wife has long slender fingers like steel. I think you would need a larger barrel with adjustable length.

My fingers are short and stubby. The 1/2 " suits me fine.

Me too...I just Love my SK3 knife :-)

Being a woman and having bigger, strong hands I still have the most narrow (smallest) barrel on my knife, I love it and I never cramp up. Ferg's suggestion about calling Paul seams like your best opption, good luck :-)

We all have our favorites, but there are at least a couple other makers not mentioned yet to consider too - Henley and Chuck Smith (Ol Smoothie).

I like the king and think its the best bang for the buck. Just got a beard and you know it's the bet but the wait time and price are long and high. I also have a SK3 and it's a great knife and Paul is great to work with. I'd start with the SK3, its the one i use the most and you would never NEED a better knife.....but it's fun to have a collection.

I have had the pleasure of trying all the makers listed. My personal choice are the henly"s with a 5/8 long barrel. He also has the best beader blades going in my opinon.
