  1. I thought they closed down the Pittsburg Faire. Most of our stuff comes from Ohio and California. I haven't found any good leather suppliers on the east coast, but Osborne Toole is in Harrison NJ and they allow you onsite. I was starting to wonder too if I was the only one in NJ
  2. I am partial to that one as well. This guys plays a vampire hunter and wanted to be able to draw down. Here is the front view...
  3. Good to know that there are leather workers on this side of the country! I live very close to Hamburg NJ
  4. here are some of our special orders, we have some better ones but I haven't scanned them in yet... Jess
  5. Does it come in different colors?
  6. Thanks, I'll check it out Jess
  7. Sorry, It has taken so long to get back to you. Things have been crazy, We had our opening weekend at Renn Faire in Tuxedo, NY this weekend so i hae been running around like a chicken without it's head Anyway, this was one of the Blacksmith's apprentices. He specifically s stated that he wanted a tunic made from either Buffalo or Elkskin and difinitely not deer, lam or cow suede. he seemed to prefer Buffalo. I have only worked with buffalo minimally with scraps left over from other projects but have never had to order it myself. Weaver deals primarily with cow and deer, however another person has indicated that Seigel of California might have what I need. I will try to get in contact with them as well. Do you know if they do a 30 day billing or if they require payment right away? The rabbit fur is sort of a running gag for a customer of ours. He had ordered Purple handcuffs with purple rabbit fur a couple of years back, however we normally deal in natural hides. He suggested dying the hides which we did and it looked beautiful, however everytime someone put them on, they receieved what he likes to refer to as his "Mark". The dye still to this day runs and leaves his mark on the wearer. He loves it since he does play a rogue, but recently they got caught in the rain and were marbalized. He wants to order another pair, but I would prefer to just have the predyed rabbit fur rather than experiment with dyes again
  8. I was asked to get two different things for special orders. 1. Purple rabbit fur 2. Buffalo or elk hide Does anyone know a good supplier? I deal mostly with Weaver but they mostely use cow and deer hides.
  9. Thanks Tom, I will check it out and let you know how it goes
  10. Personally I like Weaver. That's were we get all of our leather. They are very good about giving us the biggest hides possible with the least amount of blemishes. Their suede dye lots are consistant from year to year, but every 4 years they change their lot color, so keep that in mind if you are hoarding colors to match up for more thatn three years. They also get the supplies to us in a timely fashion and have a 30 day billing option for up to 2000.00 for most merchants.
  11. Anyone know where I can find a good instructional video or book with lots of pictures regarding leather carving?
  12. Hello all- My name is Jessica and I am a leatherworker at the Nero Emporium. We mainly opperate out of the Tuxedo, NY Renn Faire. I started out as a costume designer in College but never finished. Had to get a "real job" to pay the bills and would up meeting the wonderful Lady who owns The Nero Emporium. I started learning from her and working with my fiance about 7 years ago. I am prooud to say that we have learned quickly and have become quite good at Sword sheaths and custome pieces. Our genre is rennassaince clothing, armor, fantasy and customs. My project this year is to learn leather carving . I've also heard it called Burnishing and tooling. My fiance's project this year is learning to mold leather. If any of you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. We reside in Nothern NJ (about an hour away from the faire). I will try to post some of our pieces in the Show Off section.
  13. Hello- I seem to be a bit computer illiterate. I was trying to add a picture for my avatar but I do not have a url to add it with. My pictures are stored on my desktop. is there anyway to show them? Jessica
