Bruce, Nice job! I have promised a holster for a friend, he has a model 27 (compact .40 cal) I thought that my model 17 (9mm) might work for moulding/shaping. What do you think?

The detail you have is nice, looks like a perfect fit.

Always enjoy seeing your work.

Thank you, Rick. You're out there in Cody & Jim Bob Custer country! I'm not sure on the G17 versus G27 architecture. The 27's a compact, but the important parts may be the same. Or, close enough.

Nice work Bruce. What top coat did you use for the matte finish?

That is nice Bruce. As far as using the 17 to mold for a 27, it will work, as the frame is the same size except the barrel and grip are considerably shorter.

Take a look at the frame area between the trigger guard and dust cover. That looks like an area to be concerned with. Of course with leather, you can make the big object fit into the smaller space, but...ehhh, not preferred.

Akso if you use the G17 to mold but it'll be long in the muzzle. What you will end up is, even if the leather is the right length for the G17, there will be no taper on the end of the leather/muzzle. I've tried the same thing with 1911s, using a Commander to mold for an Officers (4.25 for a 3.5). It made a usable holster, but it wasn't up to par on my expectations for fit and finish.

I don't think the subcompact glock has a light rail.

Nice job on the holster.

No, it doesn't.

Thanks for the information, My G17 must be a older model, it does not have the light rails like the newer ones. I will try using it for the moulding / forming and will note the barrel and grip lengths.

Cody and Jim Bob's parents were in the shop, Very nice people, I have not met the "boy's" yet. I hear Jim Bob is a scream. All the stories are true about him!
