  1. Hey all, wanted to post photos of my process that I used to create this weave. <br /> <br />Let me know if you need any clarification..<br /> <br />Two pieces of leather, brown one has a long slit down the middle, the black one has several 2 inch slits, 1/4 inch in between each.<img data-cke-saved-src="http://i58.tinypic.com/143zuk9.jpg" src="http://i58.tinypic.com/143zuk9.jpg" /><br /><br />I looped the black piece into itself through each of the slits to create a twist.<img data-cke-saved-src="http://i61.tinypic.com/34t71w3.jpg" src="http://i61.tinypic.com/34t71w3.jpg" /><br /><br />I then wove the brown piece through the holes in the black piece, each time twisting the leather where it had the grain line up with the grain of the black <img data-cke-saved-src="http://i58.tinypic.com/15805qv.jpg" src="http://i58.tinypic.com/15805qv.jpg" /><br /><br />Close up view <img data-cke-saved-src="http://i57.tinypic.com/2jdkpys.jpg" src="http://i57.tinypic.com/2jdkpys.jpg" />
  2. Thanks Bill! You are correct, one piece has a long slit, the other has slits in intervals. I was able to open the image on a better screen this morning and sorted it out. Now just figuring out proportions and weights
  3. Hey Windrider, thanks for the reply! However I don't think it's a mystery braid... You can see where they have riveted on the black piece of leather to the brown so I do believe it's two separate pieces of leather. I was able to duplicate this look by cutting a long center slit down two pieces of leather. Rivet then together and then, keeping the grain sides together, loop them over and over to create the twist. Problem was, because the two sides never intersect, I'm left with a gap between the twists. It doesn't lay nicely together like in their image... I guess this could be done by doing two slits instead of one continuous one but I don't see a break in the image so was curious how they did it..
  4. Hi all, I'm trying to replicate the 'braid' in this collar - from what I can tell, its basically two layers of leather that are twisted together. However, when I do it, it gaps really bad between the two twists. Or is this a twisted type of bleed knot (slit braid)? Are there any tutorials for this type of twist/braid? Any tips out there to help the gapping? http://www.pawmark.c...hp?prod=LMC0000
