  1. These are a set of triple tree covers for a H-D that I made for a friend of mine who is a Sikh. It's only my second go at tooling, so pretty basic, but I'm happy with the way the design came out. I used 5mm tooling leather, brass rings & black mexican braid top and bottom. They are backed with felt to protect the chrome from wear and will attach to the bike using a pair of shoelaces.
  2. Fantastic - that's a real work of art
  3. Very nice - did you mold the leather on an actual tank, or use a form?
  4. This is an awesomely helpful thread - it's helped me out a lot so far. I've made my first fender bib and braided around the edges, but I've been wondering how you get the curves into it so it fits snugly against the fender.
  5. Nice work there mato - thinking about making a fender bib for my bike next.
  6. This is the bag with the front sewn on - I should have attached the belt strap before stitching it all together. I don't mind saying it was a real pain stitching that on afterwards And here's the finished product, mounted on my bike through the four holes in the battery cover
  7. Nice work on the battery bra. Do you have a picture of it on the bike? I'm guessing the battery is otherwise exposed? I'll be sure to post pics of it on the bike when it's done then!
  8. Good on you - and a nice looking bag. I'm having my first attempt at a bag at the moment and fixing mistakes as I go. Like the other guys say, you only learn by trying. Looking forward to seeing what you make next.
  9. The best thing about this forum is all the ideas it gives you - I've got some black Angelus dye, might have to have an experiment with it now Thanks!
  10. Hi, This is my first leatherwork project since I joined Leatherworker.net and I thought I'd share how it's going. First, I made a pattern, then cut out four pieces: - back, including flap - back reinforcing layer - front - gusset I ran some tan leather dye around the edges of each piece. Then I stitched the two back pieces together across the top of the back, made the holes where they will connect through to the battery box cover and put in brass grommets. I punched holes around all the connecting edges (front, back and gusset) Next I used a mexican braid to attach the gusset to the back - three thicknesses of leather - using gold coloured leather thonging. Before starting to stitch the front onto the gusset, I hand stitched a buckle strap (and buckle) to the front piece. At the moment, I'm completing the mexican braid around the front edge, attaching it to the gusset. I've double (and triple) checked that it'll fit onto my motorcycle - and I'm having a ball - though it's a lot harder and more time consuming than I had thought it would be.
  11. So glad I found this post - it's inspired me to join this forum and also to give it a go myself making my own saddlebags. I love what you did with the two pieces of leather on the front flap! Only issue is gonna be I'll be hand stitching
