rdb Report post Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) This is the second strap for a customer. He plays C&W, but he wanted Celtic type knotwork...Go figger. Black to match his electric, with Tan. Stitched with my 3000, white 277 linahal, Adjusts from 46-54, between the slots, the end punched holes, and the billet. Horse garment leather backing.Somewhere around 6-7-8 hrs to complete. I could have done a lot more, like binding the edge, etc. But I tried to keep it in the low $125 range. Thanks for looking. Can you tell me what type of leather you used and where you got it. Also, I have never died leather before, can you tell me what products you used to get the job done? rdb Report post Posted November 19, 2008 Sure.. 9oz bullhide. with garment leather backing (reversed to suede side), both from Zack White's Black oil dye brushed on with a paintbrush near the carving edges. After the black, I used Tan oil dye mixed into neatsfoot, brushed that on with a dauber. Sealed with Atom Wax, then went over the carving with Hi-Liter, then another coat of atom Wax.
