  1. I want to start stamping and tooling leather and need a good set of tools. I want to try stamping, sheridan and figure carving. So I need a good basic set of stamping and carving tools. I looked a couple sellers but don't know where to begin with. I have been working on watch straps and gun holster for close to 4 years so I have a few leather tools. I need a recommendation of which tools I need to begin an where can I buy them. Any help will be appreciated. Diego
  2. Very nice, especially on that beautiful Megalodon.
  3. Wow that is a nice burnisher! I tried to do one for myself and didn't come out as nice. I want one of each size. I live in Puerto Rico but I'm more than happy to pay extra for the shipping. So please add me to the list. Diego
  4. ant I did a vintage mod on a old cheap panerai look alike strap. I placed on a bath of oxiclean for a few hours then I used a hard brush and scrubbed really hard. Then I used a sand paper and used selectively. I got really good but I'm not that much into the vintage look. I also used lemon juice on a piece of butter color cayman piece and it turned darker but got stiff. I used some Nesfoot on a piece of veg tan. I'm still learning and experimenting. You should try different techniques. Take some scraps and try different things until you got what you where looking for. I have seen a lot of people doing the vintage thing. So try everything and have fun doing it. By the way, the easiest way to do it is to get a vintage ammo pouch and use it to make the strap. I saw a few old leather pouch in my gun store last week. I will check them out when I get back.
  5. Hi everybody. I'm from Puerto Rico, we're under a hurricane notice right now. So I'm going to do a short first post before we loose the electric power. I started working with leather about 6 months ago just doing watch straps for myself, I'm a watch aficionado. I have done about 60 straps from scrap leather that I got first. Then I got a few Cayman hides and a few alligator pieces. Now I'm learning to work with Veg Tan leather and to dye it. I did a few small proyects like cel phone cases and key covers. Now I'm working with a few holsters I'm making. Still learning how to make good edges and how to form the holsters. I'm reading this forum like crazy to learn as much as I can. I will download a few pics of my works later after the hurricane Erl pass.
