  1. Gentlemen..... Thank you very much for the information. I know where my next stop is.
  2. Hello all, I recently purchesed a beatiful Model 27 Singer Treadle Sewing machine. The machine works very well, but there was no belt. I was informed that the traditional belt for this machine was made of leather. What I would like to ask is if there is any special treatment/size/cut for the leather to work optimally for this machine. How does one typically bind the the two ends? Since it will be a "working" machine, I would think a polymer belt would work best for traction and durability. Would this be a better option than the leather? Is there a manufacturer of such belts? The machine was manufactured in 1899. Thanks to all in advance.
  3. I have seen very small spools at Hobby Lobby and Walmart. I think they are 25 yards and cost around 2.50 -3.00. They are found in the "make your own bracelet" asile. They come in multiple colors too.
  4. Additionally, Microsoft Office Live can provide free basic hosting, plus provide a domain name of your choice (if not taken). You will also get some free email accounts too with your domin name. There is an online website designer tool that you can use, or you can add you own code if you want something a little more exotic or have someone custom design it. http://www.officelive.com/en-us/ For the price (free basic), it is not too bad. The site does not allow for php/python/ruby/perl though. Your neat stuff will have to be html or javascript.
  5. I purchased my copy from TLF on sale for about $8. Worth every penny. There is another book TLF sells called Lucky 8. It too is a book about belts. The latter provides artistic perspectives from other leathercrafters besides Al Stohlman. If you can get by some of the late fifties attempts at a novel belt design and being instructed by elves, these books provide excellent reference to designing, sizing, and assembling belts.
  6. Those Iris's are very nice indeed. I did some, myself need to find them, and I will post. I would like to Azeleas soon and set them up as a belt pattern.
