Good Day From Texas...huzzah Leather!

Recommended Posts

I thought I should introduce myself. I am Cat. I run a small leather costume company here in TX. I do some tooled pieces and a whole lot of garment type work...everything from Bodices and jerkins to Browncoats. I have many machines but most are fabric type. My main machine here is a Singer 111W156 from 1951. She can be a tempermental brute when the walking foot or anything goes out of time due to having reverse. My other machine that I am going to sell is a 111W155 which does not have reverse but also is not a tempermental brute. They will sew through anything you can get under the foot! I do a lot of cutwork and overlays with coloured leathers. Guess that is all I can think of! Cat

Cat, welcome to the forum!

I love the Navasota area. Kinda far out there. Went to a business retreat at a retreat camp that was absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing. Let me know about the sewing machine you want to sell and I will post it to our guild members here in Austin for you.

Good luck!

I forgot to add my web address...Sorry to say it needs redoing VERY badly but the leatherwork side still shows a bunch of my past stuff... I need to find a GOOD web design program that I can get along with! If you know of one that is not too corny and not too hard to use...I am not great with HTML.... Email me the info...

http://www.dragonworks.us

The horse side is WAY WAY out of date now... the only horses I have are my Arabs and a couple of my Moms TBs.... Anyway there is a good sampling of what I do...

This is my old Arabian, MD Faduly, (when he was still a stud) in full garb... he still does most of his tricks.

Here are a few Custom Orders I did....

The purse is the famous bucking bull.... Carved and hand painted..

The boar pouch is cutwork with leather glued under and top stitched

Elk Phone cases carved and hand painted

Falconers pouch with a red tailed hawk...cutwork with painted and inked detail

More to come when I have time to find the files!

Thank You for having me...this looks like a great place to hang out with other nutty folks who play with leather!

Welcome to Leatherworker, Cat, and thanks for posting photos of your work. Nice applique work! Look forward to seeing more.

Welcome to the site

Ain't Navasota the home of Chuck Norris? I have some kinfolks that live in Iola and that is what they told me anyway.

Welcome to the site

I have heard he lives around these parts...I do know I LOVE the town the area and MY BLACK Dirt....it grows nearly anything! Here are a few of my miniature leather pieces....

The first one is a Breyer Stablemate...like 4" tall.... I hand cut all these pieces freehand...no patterns... the western saddles are all built on a tree made and baked at home... Hope you enjoy seeing my silly work!
