After reading some of the tool threads I think I would like to just start off getting some good hand tools on Barry King. The only problem is he doesn't have a starter kit and I don't really know what I need for the getting-started-tooling basics. What handful of tools should I be looking at? Swivel knife and a few stamps, maybe?

I am looking to start purchasing some tools and was wondering what the pros and cons of a wooden head mallet vs. a nylon head mallet or should I go with a different material all together? Thanks!
