  1. aha! Thanks RavenAus for looking!!! Yes I did see that one on etsy, that's the ONLY one I found online, its from Thailand. I really wanted the one like I had, preferably USA made. I may just get that one if all else fails. or make one.
  2. thanks CHezzetcook, but what is the name to search for, so I can buy another? because I cannot seem to find one online.
  3. does the face look like a pointed starburst? (I cannot see any previous photos posted of the tools you are talking about, and I cannot seem to post a picture, hmmm...) do you want to sell it? I just posted I was looking for one
  4. Hi can someone please give me the proper name(s) of this particular style tool in the photo? Or some resource's or links so I can buy another? This tool splits the eyelet on the backside. I have lost mine and have been looking for it for 2 whole days my workroom is now clean though thank you in advance! v
  5. lol, im an adult (sometimes...) *I would like uncensored viewing please.
  6. if you cannot find brown, you can always "oxidize" your own findings. http://www.riogrande.com/Search/oxidize fyi alot of times though there will be a clear coat on the brass, copper snaps etc that will need to come off before adding a patina. Ive also had success with using gun bluing on steel findings. good luck
  7. Chancey no worries one bit, I dont care, and I didnt know you rated people at the end anyway. ummm, I hope you dont mind if I play along sometimes... Im just in it for the "subject matter" to motivate me and probably wont ever use the alotted tools, so please do NOT include me in your rating thing at the end, because I will be disqualified every time as you guys stated earlier ha ha. You all made some really fun and cool things and it was great to see all the different variations on a theme!
  8. ok im back now were back on track thanks. when sylvia said "wood" she had a good idea, they could carve a cuff? or maybe heat steam form wood? you could stamp into balsa wood, then laquer? hmmmm.... winterbear, the layer could be like the sculpey clay like vikti above suggested to take the stamping and then fired, maybe using some kind of base form, it would have to be a "cuff" style w a back opening though...
  9. i disagree to disagree. my point is: The original post was a call for help with finding a creative solution for a member. why cant it just be that. Sorry, i didnt realize this was such a sensitive subject and I do not intend to involve myself in a big debating discussion, so this is my last post on this topic.
  10. obviously everyone here likes "leather" ... but the person just asked a simple question for alternative ideas. not our opinions about veganism.
  11. what about sewing applique in layers to faux leather, it would be a very graphicky effect..... as you experiment with different ideas and materials, you will eventually come up with something! you might even come up with the vegans' million dollar fashion idea good luck'
  12. i dont know much of anything mind you... But thinking about your limitations, I first think of vinyls type of material... So if a vinyl type material was going to be used you could not cut or necesarily mould, so that leaves heat, hot stamping as the way to impress a design into something like that...? Then theres rubber, you could make in leather and then try and cast the originaldesign (ex; rubber spiked brclts) ... Good luck, sounds like a great challenging project, love to see what you come up with eta, i think silicone was what i was thinking....make a mold out of a TAP resin product and cast in silicone (rubber), something blah blah like that...
