Pfaff 138-6 Handwheel Removal

Recommended Posts

Will someone please tell me how to remove the hand wheel from this machine? I just got it and have discovered threads wrapped around the shaft. I removed as much as I could using tweezers and dental picks but there is still thread left on there. It is causing quite a squealing noise when the machine is running at speed.

Also, does anyone know if there are other feet besides the straight stitch foot and the zig zag foot for this machine?

Thanks in advance!

I had already done that. I'm not being lazy by popping in here and asking for someone else to do my research for me. I searched again, just as you suggested, and lo and behold, I had already been to the websites that were brought up by Google - except for the attack site that my computer wouldn't let me access. There is not a wealth of information out there on this machine. I have the instruction manual. I purchased it days before I picked up the machine. If I could find an online service manual I'd buy it. Thank you for your advice.

Tracy,

If you haven't done so as yet......

Remove the belt from the pulley. Some machines have two screws with either a slotted head or hex head to loosen from the shaft. There may also be a bolt/screw inside the pulley that threads into the end of the shaft.

If the pulley has not been removed in along time it may also be "seized" onto the shaft, be careful in removing if true.

Your manual should have a parts list. If so reconstruct how the pieces are put together, that might give you a clue as to how to remove.

I wasn't inferring that you were lazy, simply offering a suggestion that you may have not tried head_hurts_kr.gif
