  1. Thanks, whinewine, for sharing the name of your carrier. I was just about to start a thread of this same inquiry, when I thought I would first do a search on the forum for existing threads. So, no one else reading this thread wants to share "who they use"? That surprises me. If you have a good relationship with your insurer, why not share that info so we don't have to a> hunt for one at random b> find a bad one and realize this too late Leatherwork for gun holsters and anything equestrian obviously will scare the pants off the unaccustomed agent, when they talk to their underwriting department and balk at "dangerous products", even if it is only the potential for danger when the leather is in the hands of dumb customers. Not average customers, but the dumbest of the dumb. It will happen, obviously, to someone, that's why we need the coverage. Personally, I attend trade shows and need a policy to protect my machines in my shop, my hides, and my finished unsold goods. I also need insurance to cover my credit card mobile terminal, because my merchant bank is telling me "we will find you a policy if you don't insure it yourself". I don't have a brick/mortar shop, I only sell online and at trade shows. Any feedback from you leathery old leather workers who have been through this already would be MUCH appreciated! Cheers, Lagarto PS: Farmers insurance said "we won't cover a holster maker, no way". I am still looking for an agent.
  2. Has anyone ordered Rabbit Pelts (Hair On Hide) from a supplier other than hide house (or a vendor reselling hide house hides), that has a color selection beyond what Hide House offers? Specifically, I am looking for a "middle green" between the lime and forest, a darker blue than the "royal" (which isn't royal, it's electric), yellow, and honey (since honey has been out of stock for months at HH). Would also prefer a hide that has been tested with perspiration, as the Tandy black hides are TERRIBLE for bleeding out color when moist, for instance. Any help is appreciated
  3. 15% of humans are allergic to nickel, and will break out in a rash if it is in direct contact with the skin, especially if sweat and time are permitted to enter the equation. For some of my applications, I can line the interior surfaces with a thin hide like deer, but for others, this is inconvenient or time consuming.
  4. I switched from the local guys (same folk who own radio shack and have that giant national chain), to Weaver and am enjoying all stainless steel buckles, keeper loops, d-rings, o-rings, etc. However, no one including weaver seems to stock stainless steel double cap rivets (or single cap for that matter). Does anyone know of a supplier where I can get standard 3/8ths wide cap single/double rivets, in long and medium? I'd love to be able to offer my products completely nickel free, and this is the last step to achieving that. Thanks! (PS: not interested in brass color, got to keep it silvery - obviously one way to go nickel free is to use brass) (PPS: not interested in using tubular rivets, looking for rapid rivets)

  6. Thank you, but those are the Czech folk I referred to. In fact, I am buying 200 of each of the 3 paws they feature, their minimum quantity, for shipping to a friend in Belgium. After this initial order, though, I may have to do their $500 minimum unfortunately. So, still looking for a USA based supplier/shipper.
  7. Thank you so much! That's perfect, and exactly right for the diamond and chain. Still looking for the paw one, and here is another variant available from a Czech company, but they have a $500 minimum order - so a USA based supplier would be preferred for this one: anyone know a USA based supplier for either of these paws? Thanks. I called for a catalog, as they do not have their inventory online yet. Gentleman answering the phone said they do not have a paw stud with a rivet or claw back.
  8. I've bought nearly all of these colors: https://hidehouse.securesites.com/products/index.html?Product_ID=557 If that link does not work for you, check the hidehouse website, and search for "designer latigo" red, sky blue, royal blue, purple, yellow, orange, kelly green. They are excellent, with only one drawback: they have NO texture, they are all very smooth on the grain side.
  9. Does anyone know of a supplier where I can buy these studs in bulk? These can be "similar" to the ones shown, if not exactly as these. Screw back, rivet back, or claw back studs are all fine. Thanks!
  10. welcome to the site
