  1. Be careful modifying your tools! Depending on what the brand of tool and the material the tool is made from, this could result in a tool that has limited life. If the tool is chrome plated (shiny silver looking), filing too far could break through the plating and cause the remaining plating to flake off. The metal under the plating starts to rust, resulting in tools that are not really usable. I agree with Bob, go back to basics and use your modeling spoon. An alternative idea is Tandy Craftool Pro Modeling Tool Small/Large Undercut Item #8039-05, which has a very small tip, great for beveling tight places. CAREFUL: this tool is also used for undercutting, so a little pressure goes a long way. Hope this helps Mike
  2. I am needing some help with patterns. For the first time in my leather experience (over 25 years) I am not able to generate a pattern for a clock face. What i am considering: LARGE clock face, about 20" square. Border could be Celtic braid, sheridan style corners, then another celtic braid around the clock work. I have the outer braid figured out, and am currently working on the inner braid.. just not happy with any design for corner patterns that I've drawn or have seen patterns for. Any help from you folks? Thank you! MIke
  3. Great suggestions. Msg'd Chan. looked at the ebay one, I do remember that one. That face is much smaller, and enlarging would not result in what i'm after. Maybe I need to look for some corner patterns..? This is the first time i've been brain-locked and not able to come up with a design that I like!
  4. I am planning to make a wall clock, overall face size desired is approximately 16 to 20" square. Clockworks to be mounted in the center. I truly like the sheridan / stollman / linnel styles. Also partial to the 'oak leaf' paftterns too. I've envisioned some sort of 'corner patterns' currounding a double ring containing the numerals, with an intense pattern in the center around the post of the stem. Any idea where to find patterns? If there are smaller patterns, I should be able to enlarge...yet can't start too small. Thanks for the feedback!
