18 Inch Necklace. Kangaroo With Goat Rawhide.

Recommended Posts

Well. This is my first time posting any type of raw hide work. I am not completely done with this necklace. I have one more base knot to do on the other side yet. This is goat raw hide cut at 1/64th width. The casa knot is a 9part 8bight knot. I'm using plumbers putty under the knot. Under the plumbers putty is 4 Spanish ring knots done in .09mm Venetian blind cord for a core.

Anyone ever used this stuff under knots?

http://sugru.com/

It seems expensive for what it is, but I wonder how well it would work...I have a couple of small packets of it I think I'm going to try using this weekend.

Last time I made a knot with rawhide, it ended up sort of misshapen (bowed out a bit at each end). Is that from not having a good foundation under the knot?

Very nice Brian, the thought of 1/64 strings is giving me a headache. 25b, I've never used it, but it might be too spongy. I like the plumbers putty like Brian used to smooth out rough spots & build up heel knots a bit, but I always use base knots for the main part of a foundation. Buck
