Projects and informative website

Recommended Posts

Hey all

Just wanted to let you know that our "new" website has been launched and we have some good resources and free projects available to anyone that is interested in leather work. Take a gander and see if you like it. Our newsletter is about to be launched which will have a lot of resources and patterns, plus a Q&A section.

Let us know how we can make it better.

Thanks.

Just wanted to share with you all in Leather land information about our next meeting. We have an awesome presenter who happens to be one our very own members. Those of you new to Leather Worker and/or the Central Texas area. Come join us.

The February meeting of Longhorn Trail Leather Guild will be held next WEDNESDAY, February 3, 2010.

Please note that this is change from last year's meeting day. The meeting continues to begin at 7:00 pm. And yes, we continue to meet at Tandy Leather Factory in Austin, TX. The February progam will be about leather armor.

Our presenter, Alexis, says: In the demo Im going to show patterns, talk about how they are made. I'm going to talk about how I form the chest and back peices and talk about the tools used to do so. I'll talk about how I make and attach the decorations and fasten capes and things. Jason has a set of armor shown in the picture of us two that has some articulated arms. I will show that and talk about how we figured that out. I will also bring a set of small bracers and a pattern of it for everyone to take home with them. I'll take Q&A after that. I have no idea how much time that will take up. If it ends up being a 15 minute presentation we can all do a little bracer project. I'll have Dennis make sure some leather is at the ready just in case.

Members are reminded membership renewals are now due. Please see Dennis about renewals as well as new memberships.

Membership has it's privileges...for example, "Pellis Arcanae Celatae"

See you Wednesday,

Sam Jeske

LTLG Secretary 2010

Side Note: All are welcome. I will make every attempt to take photographs to post them on our guild website for all to see and use. This is my vision as the incoming President for the guild....Enjoy

Don't worry. I am posting either pictures or a video on our guild website and let you know. The demonstrator is also giving everyone in attendance, a pattern pack. We are going to print them and I can make them available her for cost.

My goal this year as president is to publish each project/pattern we do at the meeting on our website because we have a lot of members that live too far and cannot always attend the meeting. Again, I will post it here when a particular project/pattern is available.

Stay tune!
